Yonderberry Oil and Petroleum Supply Jetty

View from the north shore of the small boat fuelling pontoon.

A general view of the new jetty facilities from Wilcove.

The rig has here been moved closer to the shore to remove the last parts of the old jetty.

On the north side of the new jetty is the small boat fuelling pontoon. Any of the many types of craft authorized to draw fuel from here can come alongside. Indeed, the photo shows lighter 1512 F doing just that. Generally, it is the SD-operated tugs that bring lighters alongside to 'fill up.' These small tamkers are then taken by the tugs to fuel the larger RN ships that may need fuel and are currently in the naval base. Other small craft belonging to the Port authorities, the MoD Police boats, RM Commando, and the SD support craft themselves can come here to draw fuel. Large rubberised bumpers are provided to avoid damage to the jetty in case the helmsman of any of these craft should misjudge the approach.
